<Kinsen-do>
Alongside our signature Kinsen-yaki, our nure-senbei made with Arima’s specialty sansho pepper is also popular. Be sure to try our Arima specialty sweets, like the Kinsen monaka where you sandwich Tokachi-grown red bean paste mochi yourself.
When you think of Arima Onsen, you think of Kinsendo, right? It’s a famous shop in Arima. They sell Kinsendo sweets at Itami Airport too. Many people buy 551 for souvenirs in Osaka, but I highly recommend Kinsendo sweets. Warm green tea with Kinsendo sweets is the best.
Nintendo, Ito Yokado, Shiseido, Kinsen-do, Mangetsu-do… why do they all have “-do” in their names? Is it for good luck?
I went to Zuihoji Park, a famous spot for autumn leaves in Arima. The slopes are pretty steep, so heels and slippers are a no-go. I recommend wearing sneakers.
Zuihoji Temple… lacking successors, it became a park… sad. Do young people have that longing for Tokyo or Osaka? The regions are steadily losing talent. Right now, what’s thriving in Japan is the Tokyo metropolitan area, Shiga (because buying a house in Kyoto is expensive), and Osaka. Outside of the black hole-type local government (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka) mentioned in the Masuda Report, it’s a bit… Nagoya, in the third major metropolitan area, is barely breaking even in terms of population growth?
