<Busshozan Hot Springs> The museum-like exterior and open-air baths leave a lasting impression. Known as the “beauty bath,” it’s renowned for the pleasant, moisturized feeling after bathing. All baths feature flowing hot spring water.
I visited this highly-rated hot spring in Kagawa Prefecture. It has a nice, modern Japanese feel. The baths themselves are small, so when crowded, you might not be able to relax. When I went, it was quiet, and I could leisurely soak in the carbonated spring at the back.
<Honpukuji Water Hall> Designed by architect Tadao Ando, the structure does not immediately appear to be a temple. Descending the steps at the center of an oval pond, where red, white, yellow, and pink water lilies and Oga lotuses bloom in summer, leads to the main hall. The design allows the setting sun to shine through from behind the principal image at dusk, creating a solemn atmosphere.・・・quote.
From Awaji Yumebutai, head straight along Route 28 to reach Honfukuji Suimido. The sign is hard to spot—you might accidentally drive right past it. Using navigation is recommended. Admission fee applies. The architecture truly feels like a Tadao Ando masterpiece. Lotus flowers bloom in the pond, and descending the steps within it… the atmosphere is truly captivating.
